New Jersey (offices in New York)..., 5 Shares, I/U Stock Certificate, sailor with sextant at middle and dock with harbor at left, small steamship at bottom middle. VF condition. The Long Dock Company was incorporated in 1856 by the Erie Railroad to secure terminal property along the Jersey City waterfront and construct facilities to reach the Hudson River. Its most important project was the Bergen Hill Tunnel, completed in 1861, which provided a direct route for Erie trains to the river. Long Dock later oversaw development of extensive docks, freight yards, and ferry connections that evolved into Erie’s Pavonia Terminal complex. The company remained under Erie control, leasing its property for decades until its operations were absorbed by the railroad prior to the Erie–DL&W merger in 1960. �������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� Est. $130-260 New York 527 527 NY. New York. $1000 Specimen 7% Coupon Bond rarity with double printed back panel error, Black printing without underprint, Allegorical women flank portrait of George Washington in middle, small train bottommiddle, Counterfoil on left has legend “Organized under Chap.140. Lawes of New-York: Passed April 2nd 1850”. 50 coupons attached on bottom, Specimen overprints and “0000” serial numbers, VF condition, Coupon #1 is dated July 1863 and Coupon 50 is dated January 1888, ABNC. This unlisted and unique example from the ABN Archives discovered in 2002 is dated 13 years earlier than the first listed bond example in listed in Cox. It is in beautiful condition considering it is close to 160 years old. Historic railroad bond. There is an ABNC logo located on the lower left corner of the bond, but the original design and engraving was from a predecessor company that was updated by ABNC. Amazing and Unique.
