Archives International Auctions Auction 106 September 24, 2025
Introduction to the Sale Foreword On behalf of the entire Archives International Auctions team, I would like to personally welcome you to our 106th auction and eighth event of 2025. We are proud to present 669 lots of rare and desirable U.S., Chinese, and worldwide banknotes, scripophily, U.S. colonial banknotes and fiscal documents, historic ephemera, and security printing ephemera. This sale also features exceptional numismatic material consigned from a variety of estates and longtime collections, many of which are appearing at auction for the very first time. This one-day auction offers an impressive range: over 250 lots of world banknotes; 17 lots of U.S. and world coins; 80 lots of U.S. colonial banknotes, obsolete notes, fractional, and Confederate currency; more than 90 lots of U.S. large and small type notes, including national banknotes, Federal Reserve notes, legal tenders, and silver certificates; over 120 lots of historic and security printing ephemera, traveler’s checks, and U.S. and world stamps and postal history; and concluding with nearly 90 lots of U.S. and world scripophily, highlighted by railroads, mining, banking and finance, historic bonds and shares, and many other fascinating subjects. Among the numerous highlights are two extraordinary offerings: an extremely rare full set of Kingdom of Hawaii, Lahain- aluna Seminary, Maui, ND (1843–44), six uncirculated banknotes—one of only four or five complete sets offered publicly in the last three decades—and a remarkable Republic of Nicaragua 1856 $25 issued military banknote signed by filibuster leader William Walker. Looking ahead, our 107th auction will take place in late October and will feature an extensive scripophily collection from two major estates, including many bonds and shares not seen for decades. We are also actively seeking consignments for our Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 auctions, which will include U.S. and world banknotes, coins, scripophily, historic ephemera, security printing material, autographs, stamps, postal history, and other desirable numismatic and philatelic items. Please contact us to discuss participation in these exciting future sales. The team at Archives International Auctions sincerely thanks you for your interest and support. We hope this auction adds both enjoyment and enrichment to your collecting journey, and we wish you continued health, happiness, and success. Best of luck Bob Schwartz
