Canada and U.S., ND (ca.1980). Lot of 3 Dura Test Notes with different designs at right, Include: Clear window, zig-zag pattern on a clear window, and Double triangle right & lower left, All are PMG graded Superb Gem Uncirculated 67 EPQ. (3). “Dura” Note Polymer banknotes similar to Tyvek polymer material. Red brown on light green undertint. Face has ocean oil well drilling platform with ornate designs and back has horse pulled oil tanks. DuraNote polymer material was developed as part of a research project by Mobil Oil in the late 1980s to early 1990s. Different countries including the U.S., Canada, England, Venezuela, Mexico and others had there banknotes printed using this material to test it and see if it could be a useful paper alternative. Unfortunately, Mobil Oil merged with Exxon Oil and the project was halted. Garcia with black S/N DN000000, the back has a Glenbow Archives image intaglio printed with Horse Team hauling oil tank with oil well supplies, 1924, various notes have different security devices including a Canadian theme maple leaf, Pegasus see-thru window, color hemisphere globes also printed with wavy lines at edge of note in “watermark” area. Novodel serial #. Press sheet is slightly larger than 26 x 19-1/2 inches. With sheet registration marks in margins.
