Group of 8 I/C Capital Stock Certificates for various share amounts. Black text with black border. All are in Fine to VF condition. All are signed by John W. Garrett as president. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on 31 July 1820. In 1855, he was elected to the Board of Directors for the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O) Railroad. Three years later, on November 17, 1858, he was elected President of the B&O Railroad - a position he held for 26 years. He was acknowledged by president Lincoln for his help in securing Washington, D.C. from capture by the rebels during the Civil War.
