Black intaglio printing on light orange-yellow colored paper, previously mounted with evidence of glue remnants on back, cut close to margins, no printer listed but it came from the American Bank Note Archives and could have been printed by the B.E.P., ABN, or Security BNC. This design was never used exactly in this form, but is similar to other Food Stamp designs. There are also archival markings on the proof in red including measurements relating to sheet layout. Also included is an I/C $5 Food Stamp with Lincoln on the left, with a similar layout of text. The issued example has the imprint of the B.E.P. at the bottom and “Series 1970”. The denomination and letter fonts look exactly like the proof lettering, so the B.E.P. probably designed this essay.
