Lot of 2 items, Includes American Bank Note Company, March 13th, 1860, 1 Share I/C Capital Stock Certificate, S/N 275, Issued to Alexander C. Cary, Black printing with red underprint, The certificate features elaborate engraving, a hallmark of ABNC’s craftsmanship, with a striking central vignette depicting an allegorical female figure seated within a shield of stars and stripes, symbolizing security and prosperity. Surrounding the vignette are two finely detailed portraits in the top corners, of Washington and Franklin, similar to ones used on postage stamps of that time period, adding to its artistic appeal. The document is embellished with intricate border designs, bold typography, and vibrant red overprinting, highlighting its authenticity and importance. Embossed seal at bottom left, with POCs over shares at top and signatures at bottom. Signed by Charles Toppan as ABNC President at bottom right; Whiting as Secretary; and Wright as Treasurer, VF condition. ABNC. Charles Toppan was a pioneer of the engraving and printing industry, who served as the fifth president of the American Bank Note Company.
