This Cashier’s Check was issued due to the Panic of 1907, a financial crisis caused by a significant drop in the New York Stock Exchange and a subsequent run on banks. Boston Bank Note Co., Cardenio F. King was a financier who was sentenced in 1908 to serve time in prison for stealing over $20,000 from his clients.
