Around each portrait are 14 smaller medallion portraits of military personalities of the day. 13-3/4x8. 1898. Two large medallions, one with a heroic scene, the other with bust of William McKinley. Around each are 14 smaller portraits of military figures. Laubenheimer Nameplate, ca.1870-90’s Brass, irregular shape 7x3-1/2 1/8 thick brass. Incuse name. Three mounting posts on back, two removed, center one remains.With layer of gray and then white paint. Could very well have been the office door nameplate. The following specimen and two additional lots are an example of his work on the U.S. Series as well for Argentina. 54 54 US Postal Stationary, ca.1870’s US Embossed cover. Lincoln, 6 cent red. #10 size envelope marked SPECIMEN at center front. This was designed by Rudolf Laubenheimer.
