41 Edison, Thomas: The Herbert Read Collection Archives.
Consisting of two loose leaf binders of with sleeves holding unique
photographs of the Edison workers, cyano-types of Sampson ore
from 1889, a sample of the first filament used in the light bulbs, lab
instructions, and a variety of other material. Herbert Read was an
employee of Edison’s and he had access to many things which never
went farther than the workrooms. This collection is unique, and like-
ly not available in the market place. This lot is offered with an origi-
nal charcoal drawing of Edison, framed, 15x13 as well. This material
should be seen; an important group. ..............................

44 Woolworth Building Original ca. 1930 etching by Joseph
Pennell.
New York, NY. “Woolworth Building” listed on back and
was priced at $300 a very long time ago. Dated 11/2/1930 on back.
Born in Philadelphia, and first studied there, but like his compatriot
and friend, James McNeill Whistler, he afterwards went to Europe
and made his home in London. He produced numerous books (many
of them in collaboration with his wife, Elizabeth Robins Pennell), but
his chief distinction is as an original etcher and lithographer, and
notably as an illustrator. Matted and framed. Signed by the artist on

45 Sculpture: Charging Bull by Arturo DiModica.
One of the very
few artist’s reproductions of the famous sculpture made in three
sizes and signed by DiModica. The sculpture is 7 tall and 11 long,
very handsome and should be seen. Also a writing by the artist
(copy) titled The Bull copy of a news story, and a photocopy of a
group surrounding the sculpture at Bowling Green. A very fine

Specimen Bond.
Illinois, 1952, (Incorporated in 1837), $1000, 25
Year 3 1/8% Debenture Specimen, Profile of John Deere top center,
POC’s, SPECIMEN overprints, VF-XF condition, ABNC. Based in
Illinois, Deere is a world leading manufacture in agricultural equip-
ment and was started by John Deere who developed and manufac-
tured the first commercially successful cast-steel plow.

Rosenthal.
Philadelphia, ND (ca.1900), Max Rosenthal Mezzotint
engraved portrait of Alexander Hamilton, Proof printed in black and
gray, 5.8 by 8.5 inches, Pencil autograph of Max Rosenthal on bot-
tom right, no name engraved on plate on lower right border, Choice
Extremely Fine, Max Rosenthal was a prominent Philadelphia
engraver-artist originally from Russia but was brought over as an
apprentice Lithographic assistant to a well known French
Lithographer in 1849. This proof is one of 25 signed proofs by Max
Rosenthal. Renowned engraver signed historic artwork.
