6 Artwork - LincolnCent Inspiration, July 25, 1908OriginalAquarelle with Custom Made Frame.

A fine aquarelle by Joel Iskowitz,

foremost designer of Congressional Gold medals, and a speaker at

the 5th Bourse on October 23rd. The artist had been to Sagamore

Hill and was able to clearly imagine the setting when another medal

designer, Victor Brenner, visited Teddy Roosevelt to sketch him for

the obverse of the Panama Canal Medal. Brenner loved Lincoln, as

he knew Roosevelt did, and had placed an image on Lincoln on the

table in the library. This led to conversation and the very unusual

decision to create the Lincoln Cent, the first time this happened.

This is the moment that sparked this decision, a memorable one for

numismatists! In beautiful condition, it is a handsome numismatic

piece created by an important medal designer of renown. Est.
