Archives International Auctions Part XVII - page 5

Foreword
Welcome to the Sale
On behalf of the entire Archives International Auctions team, I would like to personally welcome you to our seventeenth exciting
auction we have held over the last seven years. We are offering over 1000 lots of U.S. and Worldwide Banknotes, Scripophily &
Security Printing Ephemera at our offices in Fort Lee, New Jersey. We are privileged to have more exciting selections from the
“Hamtramck Collection” put together by a career military officer over a 50 year period beginning in the 1940’s and continuing to
the early 1990’s that includes an amazing selection of Worldwide banknotes with many having been off the market or offered for the
first time since purchased 30 to 50 years ago. Additionally, we will be offering an impressive Modern Africa collection, “The Scars-
dale Collection” with many difficult to find post-1960 issues in high grades from a vast range of countries on the continent. Due to
the amount of material, we are splitting it into two sections with the first part offered in this auction.
We will be offering 600 lots of Worldwide banknotes including an amazing Banque de France 1917 Essay Progress proof by ABNC
that may very well be unique. There will be 30 lots of China including three 1850’s Ching Dynasty notes as well as many other is-
sued and specimen rarities. This will be a warm-up for our April 12th, 2014 Second Hong Kong Auction that we are very excited
about. Additionally, we are offering 3 different Ecuador rarities, all extremely rare and never offered at auction previously. We are
also proud to offer the first section of the Scarsdale Collection of modern African banknotes put together by an astute collector who
spent a significant amount of time searching out rare varieties including signature combinations.
One of the highlights of the U.S. banknote section is an Essay Proof of a first series National Banknote that was previously unlisted,
The sale will also include a nice colonial assortment as well as U.S. Obsoletes and large and small type notes.
We also are offering a large and exciting selection of U.S. & worldwide scripophily including railroads, mining and miscellaneous
certificates highlighted by an issued Palestine Foundation Fund - Keren Hayesod Sacrifice Bond from 1922, previously only known
through specimen examples and possibly the only issued one available.
We are looking forward to another exciting auction and hope you enjoy our current offerings. Our next live auction is scheduled for
April 12th, 2014 in Hong Kong held in association with Dynasty Philatelic Auctions. We are also planning for our late May 2014
auction to be held at our offices in New Jersey and we are still seeking suitable consignments, so please feel free to contact us to
discuss your participation in our auctions.
I would like to thank everyone who has participated in our previous auctions and has helped make this auction series a resounding
success.
Best of luck,
Bob Schwartz
