960 Banco De Espana Correspondence to ABNC Regarding
Banknote Production.
Lot of 2 letters with English translation. 1).
Madrid, Spain. December 24, 1885. One page letter on Banco De
Espana embossed letterhead with blue ABNC receiving hand stamp.
Letter is written in Spanish with translation written on second sheet
of attached paper. Signed by Sub<Governor, Manual Ciudad. The
letter mentions that ABNC will be shipping the balance of the ban<
knote order of Banco De Espana and that the bank will pay on
receipt of the banknotes, based on Clause 12 of the contract
between ABNC and the bank, 8,000 Pounds Sterling. The ban<
knotes being delivered are the 1884, First Issue, P<24 to P<28, 25
Pesetas to 1000 Pesetas printed by ABNC; 2). January 20th, 1885.
Letter from Banco De Espana’s representative in London to ABNC
acknowledging the receipt of the ABNC’s draft from the bank for
the 8,000 Pounds Sterling. Rare internal correspondence between
ABNC and Banco De Espana relating to the second and last issue
printed by ABNC for Spain. ABNC.

961 Banco de Espana in Bilbao and Catalunya Generalitat Pair
Spain, pair of local notes. The first is a Banco de Espana (Bilbao)
1000 Pesetas, 1937, P<S567, black and lilac obverse, dirty blue and
brown reverse, featuring industrial workers, measuring 205mm x
112mm, with counterfoil. The second is a Catalunyan 1000 Pesetas,
circa late 1930s, blue, featuring woman facing left, on uniface paper
measuring 220mm x 130mm. Both UNC, possibly unissued or proof.

Trio.
Spain, Lot of 3 notes, all are 1935, 50 Pesetas, P<88ct2, Printed
in Red and black on light yellow andm/c underprint instead of issued
purple and black on m/c underprint, Santiago Ramon y Cajal on right
flanked by allegorical statues, back in issued blue and light red with
monument fountain, S/N 5189143, The notes appear About
Uncirculated to Choice AU condition, with a very light vertical fold
keeping them from Unc. TDLR.

Coupon Uncut Sheets.
Spain, Lot of 4 uncut sheets of 10 scrip
notes or coupons per sheet. Backs have political images and the
faces offer discounts and coupons for different things. All in VF to XF
with perforations to separate the notes. Attractive and scarce
intact.

Syria, 1939, 1 Livre, P<40e, eleven pieces ranging in con<
dition from VG to VF, some with graffiti and tears. Double “V” over<
print Type D on all notes. An interesting classic note.
