Butte, Montana, May 27, 1903, 8.5 x 10.25 inches, Rooselvelt’s
embossed portrait on top with menu below printed on copper plate
with attached yellow ribbon. Evidently touting Montana’s copper
producers. VF to XF condition with original folder that has
detached. Menu written in French. Attractive and rare Western cop-
per mining related presidential ephemera. ...................

192 Pacific Wood, Lumber and Flume Co., 1877 Certificate of
Incorporation.
San Francisco, CA. 1877, Articles of Incorporation
signed by James Clair Flood. Includes partners names Flood,
Mackay, O’Brien, Barron and Wallace. This corporation was set up
for flume and lumbering as well as real estate and other purchases.
XF condition. Flood was born in 1826 on Staten Island, N.Y. Flood
came to San Francisco a few years after the discovery of gold in
California, and tried his luck in mining, the saloon business and then
in 1858 went into business as a stock broker. The following year,
Flood and O’Brien formed a partnership with fellow Irishmen James
Graham Fair and John William Mackay. By 1878 the four partners
had made more than $300,000,000: their firm was described as “the
richest in America, and prospectively the richest in the world. “ The
four-way partnership was commonly known as the Bonanza firm
and together they also established the Bank of Nevada in San
Francisco, California. .....................................................
