Proof Banknote.
South Africa, 18xx (1870’s), 20 Pounds, P-S582,
Unlisted Front and Back proofs, Standing Britannia at left with
flag, shield and sheep, Navy blue-Black on a very light brown and
very small checker board pattern underprint, the listed note does
not have the underprint, the back uniface proof is printed in gray-
green instead of listed light brown, there is light toning on the left
border, the note appears Uncirculated. Very small Waterlow& Sons,
Ltd. imprint on bottom middle border area. Very rare if not unique
proof that differs significantly from the listed variety in SCWPM.
