2063 Molsons Bank ABNC Production Department Portrait
Engraving Study Between ABNC & Waterlow & Sons.
Canada,
ND ca. 1900-1920, Lot of 4 blown up photographs of portraits of
either Molson or Macpherson engraved by either ABNC or
Waterlow & Sons. Evidently ABN was evaluating how Waterlow
copied their engraving designs. Also included is a small piece of
paper that states “Enlarged reproductions of Canadian Portraits”,
Molsons’ photographs are from 1908 ABNC Engraved note and
1912 Waterlow engraved note. The Macpherson portrait is from the
1908 ABNC engraved note and an unidentified Waterlow engraving.
The ABNC engraved notes appear more fully engraved and
appealing then the Waterlow notes (Sorry Waterlow collectors).
