73 Robert Lurting Autographed Letter, Mayor of New York From
1726 to 1735, Issuing Early And Very Strict “Blue Laws”.
New
York, NY 1726. 2 1/2 page letter in Dutch. Signed by Robert Lurting
during his first year of his term as mayor of New York, Amazing let-
ter written to the chief and other Constables of New York to enforce
very strict Blue Laws prohibiting working, playing, drinking, social-
izing or anything fun from occurring on Sunday. The letter mentions
that it is prohibited for more than “three Negroes or Indian slaves”
may meet each other on Sundays. Fine with lightly toned paper,
some splits at folds. In 1977 the new York Historical Society
expressed an interest in acquiring this letter but eventually declined
it. Rare. Includes the NY Historical society letter and complete
translation of Dutch letter. ...........................................

Seen.
Lincoln: This Monument is Inscribed in the Hearts of the
American People…to the Memory of Abraham Lincoln, Sixteenth
President of the United States of America, and the Great
Emancipator of Four Millions of a Down-trodden Race. No place, no
date, [ca.1865?] Broadside, 17x23. Minor wear along folds, and edge
wear. With several splits. Suitable for framing and a fine piece dur-
ing the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. A
stark memorial broadside made up of an elegiac text in a variety of
types surmounted by a woodcut Union Star within a simple monu-
mental form rendered with rules, the whole surrounded by a heavy
black border. From the descendants of James Garfield. Not in
Monaghan or the McClellan Collection. Rare and historic document.

in shipping as famous as the British company P&O - The Peninsular
and Oriental Steam Navigation Company. Founded in London in
1837, P&O grew from a small fleet of wooden paddle steamers, car-
rying mail, cargo and passengers to becoming the world’s largest
shipping company dominating the British Empire routes to India,
Far East and Australia. Today P&O is owned by DP World, the third
