sample or specimen stamps of d 4 different designs with ABNC logo
on top of sheet. Stamps include Communication “25” stamp (2);
Education “3” stamp (2); Taj Mahal “5” stamp (1); and Rembrandt
“5” stamp (3). Evidently this was a proof of a color sample chart.
Printed on india paper on large white card. Approval signatures on
lower right and dated 3/17/47. Bottommargin has archival notations
“Philippines 9 Int.revenue #2A 75 Red 50 Pesos 9 (Woman Striking
Anvil)”. Choice Uncirculated Condition. Rare approval proof. ABNC.

New York, ND (ca. 1870’s). Charles Toppan engraved Micro
U.S.”Declaration of Independence”. 2.5 by 1.5 inches with addition9
al fancy border outlining entire declaration with 16 small portraits of
Jefferson, Washington and Arms of the 13 states and Patriotic
eagle. Bottom imprint states “American Bank Note Company 9 New
York”. Micro9engraved on bottom is “Engraved by 9 C.Toppan 9
Phild. July 4, 1940”, Printed in black on white coated stock, blank
back. Very light foxing on the edges, otherwise Uncirculated to CU
condition. Rare Early ABN Advertising piece demonstrating
amazing early technical abilities of this well known
engraver.

instructions for altering and improving the image. This vignette was
to be used on a U.S.P.S. Postal Sheet, possibly their commemora9
tive sheets they issued with vignettes that would relate to stamps
they issued. Very interesting and behind the scenes look at the
