1792Commonwealth of Australia, Queensland Postal Note, Territory of Papua.

Territory of Papua. 1943. 6 Shillings, P-Unlisted. Partially

issued but unsigned Postal Note. Issued in Brisbane and dated 13 May

‘43 in circular handstamp on face. Under title in smaller print is text

“Payable Only Within The Commonwealth and Territory of Papua”.

Possibly used for small purchases or for change since there is evidence of

wear and folding, but it was never filled out or possibly it was intended

for use and never issued or cashed. Fine condition with pin holes on

upper left and toning on left and right margins. During World War II in

the battles of the Pacific, Papua was governed by an Australian military

administration from Port Moresby. Rare War time Australian Postal

Note for use in the Territory of Papua (and New Guinea). ��������Est.
